Arlo: On that note, FYI, the "squares trying to perceive spheres" comes from (as I'm sure you know, but just passing it on for others who may not) the novel "Flatland" (Abbot, 1884) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flatland). For those who have not read it, an interesting theme like that is found in Slaughterhouse Five (Vonnegut). (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaughterhouse-Five).
SA: This coming from different perspectives is a democratic (as in democracy, not referring to a political party) perspective. So, it would seem we are locked into a way of experiencing and thus, looking at the world that allows numerous jumping off points, so to speak. This links to M-theory, where differing approaches to an M-theory (five all together) point to an M-theory, but via these five jumping off-points where the M-theory can be known. Thus, once all five points/string theories (jumping off points) are understood, then the M-theory is known. Taken from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-theory_(simplified) "In 1995, Edward Witten initiated what has been called the Second Superstring Revolution by introducing M-theory. This theory combines the five different string theories (along with a mostly abandoned attempt to unify general relativity and quantum mechanics called eleven-dimensional supergravity) into one theory. This is accomplished by knitting together a web of relationships between each of the theories called dualities (specifically, S-duality, T-duality, and U-duality). Each of these dualities provides a way of converting one of the string theories into another... Factually, these dualities' existence had been known before Witten came up with the idea of M-theory. Witten's idea was that since all five string theories seemed "related" to each other, they might be approximations or limits to a grander, over-arching theory. Additionally, it was found that the equations that required string theory to exist in 10 dimensions were also approximations. The proposed (and somewhat nebulous) M-theory would instead be a theory that took place in 11 dimensions, although the details have not been pinned down." SA continues: Though, what I'm suggesting are synonymous in their approach, these are different approaches and this is to be kept in mind to avoid clumping these approaches into a strict system cutting off their diverse fields of interest (yet, their synonymity does apply an over-arching understanding that I'm trying to point out). The approaches that are synonymous are "Flatland", "Slaughterhouse Five", Democracy, M-theory, and Buddha Realms. Here's how Buddha Realms are understood as follows from Campbell's "Oriental Mythology" [Chapter 5; Section IX]: "The Buddha Realm is an invention of the Mahayana... is not conceived to be the ultimate goal of the spiritual life, but the penultimate, next to last. It is a kind of port of departure for nirvana. And as numerous ports are to be found along the shoreline of a great sea, so likewise along that of the ocean of the void there have been set up many Buddha Realms. We hear of those of Maitreya, Vairochana, and Gautama, as well as of that of Amida and, theoretically at least, even the Paradise of Christ might be experienced as a Buddha Realm. In fact, as a coupling device by which the paradisiac mythology of any religion can be linked to the Buddhist, the concept of the Buddha Realm makes it possible for the Mahayana mission to enter any religious field whatsoever and not destroy, but augment and supplement the local forms." SA continues: This is my overlapping static patterns, linking and connecting all of these together ("Flatland", "Slaughterhouse Five", Democracy, M-theory, and Buddha Realms), I understand. It is the many paths, the many boat docks, the many leaping off points, the democratic view that I'm point at. Each of these static patterns are discussing something different, such as dimensions, politics, science, and ways of true living, etc..., yet, each seemingly approached with diverse views coalescing together into a free entity of some kind, whether this free entity is a larger dimensional view, freedom in society, a larger over-arching scientific theory, and/or ways to practice ones life ('heaven on earth', 'nirvana', and 'psychological sanity, seamless logic, perceptual unity', etc...). woods, SA ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals?
