OK, SA, I'll comment on this thread, and go back to the two you reference, because there is another subject here ... and that is "me".
Not me personally, but we as individual people - our egos, some would day. Me, I like to see MD as conversation - not every exchange has to be syllogistic argument building or critical analysis - many of them are about relationship building between the participants. To me the latter is valuable, to make any sense of people's arguments, to understand where they are coming from, their mental context, deeper background, how we tick, etc. There are others of course who see this kind of "chatter" as "noise" and wish it would go away - enforce tighter rules on discourse and numbers of posts per day - to those people I say switch over to MF. But we have to respect all points of view here. So I'm conscious of being very liberal with my "me too" and "that reminds me of another thing" opinionated chit-chat, I do occasionally ignore points where there isn't a direct or important question addressed to me ;-) OK, where were we ?
