You misunderstand the Prisoner's Dilemma.  It is about what is rational to
choose.

No, you misunderstand the Prisoner's Dilemma. It is about forced choice and
examines what choices people make and why they make them. Rationality may
indeed be a reason and I suspect any choice can be rationalized. But the
choice itself may be based on greed, revenge, hope or the flip of a coin.
