Subject: Re: [MD] chasing ghosts
Marsha:
Are you talking about some kind of karma from past
action?
SA: Ever watch "Shaolin Soccer"? Awesome movie.
Talks about karma. Stephen Chow is hilarious and
creative. I believe I understand karma more than I
ever have after this movie. I was ready.
Sounds like an interesting movie.
Marsha:
I'm really curious to know what you mean by 'chasing
forces'?
Chasing ghosts was
something I could relate to. What is there besides
ghosts?
SA: What are ghosts to you?
Something conceived in the mind; a concept, plan, design, idea, or thought.
Marsha:
Well, there are
trees, but there are more ghosts than trees. And
it's pretty tough to live
in a green mansion these days.
And it is your inkblot, it would be unfair to just
leave it there neglected.
Or maybe I'm just wanting to avoid the hard work.
If Buddhism is suppose to
lean towards mysticism, I'd like to know where?
Certainly not in the
Prasangika-Madhyamaka tradition.
SA: You bring up "Certainly not in the
Prasangika-Madhyamaka tradition." Why not?
"With one voice all the Mahayana masters proclaim that analysis of objects,
and not mere withdrawal of the mind from them, is the path to liberation.
One must analyze well whether the inherent existence of phenomena, as it is
conceived by the innate non-analytical intellect, exists or not. Through
reasoning and scriptural citation one must ascertain that objects do not
exist as conceived and penetratingly understand the falseness of inherent
existence. It is very important to analyze again and again with
discriminating wisdom." (Hopkins, Jeffrey, Meditation on
Emptiness,Introduction)
Marsha:
So what forces are you chasing?
Dreams dancing across the blue sky,
SA: "Dreams" are definitely a force and ghost I'm
talking about.
in the night the experience goes on,
during the day my dreams goes on
this world is playing out...
in my dreams too,
this is part of the whole experience,
the pink dancing squirrel talking to me...
is playing out this scenario,
as real as the sun's light,
as breath is different from heartbeat,
as dream is different from campfire,
as real as the leaf falling,
but same in overall experience of -
this world playing out its' story,
in breath you breath,
in heartbeat you beat,
in dream you dream,
in walking you walk,
all ways this world is experienced -
and played out in its' own way,
SA
In choosing you choose.
There's a small, fearless, red fox that has been visiting Bebe and I. It
makes me smile, and Bebe bark.
