Ron: I don't think a solution was implied, but, again, you'll get not argument from me, ...wise words. I think it points to the natural languages ability to bear meaning without employing reason. That perhaps SOM may play a part in the cultural dilemma, but the bigger problem may be the tendency to accept things without question.
