The essential point, "The value itself is an experience." They are synonyms. At least that is my understanding.
My understanding (and it doesn't come from Pirsig) is expressed by reversing the author's quote as follows:
"The experience itself is Value." Do I see any lights flashing??! [Marsha]:

I beg your pardon. WHAT paper? I can't imagine a more incongruous pairing than Nietszche and Pirsig. The former was all about humanity and man's vulnerability, the latter is obsessed with the morality of an evolving universe. The only thing I see in common is the absence of a primary source and a mental breakdown (probably as a consequence).
But you've been reading Nietszche recently. Why don't you start the ball rolling?
