THE WISDOM OF TREES by Julie Redstone

I met a tree,

Its trunk was broad,

Its roots were wide as wide can be.

I asked to know

How old it was,

And what its heart had lived to see.

The tree replied, with voice so deep,

In patient tones, both soft and wise,

I am a part of Mother Earth,

So all has passed before my eyes.
