Peter, I'm not sure what your insinuations here mean, perhaps you can drop the veiled language? My main points were (1) i don't see the choices in this world as being a hedonistic-austere dichotomy, (2) i do my best to fulfill my responsibility even though i do enjoy modest material pleasures, (3) the break in the dialogue occurs at a higher level that halts empathy at the onset, (4) yes, I believe we do have a responsibility to alleviate suffering in this world (a basic Buddhist stance). Which of these do you find analogical to my trying to get you to buy me a house?
