Hello Chris,

You write;

My understanding of the matter is that everyone dislike to many of the
others view too much for this to be possible. Some here don't even agree
with the fundamentals. But perhaps that isn't relevant, at least not right
now. I think, that the spreading of the general idea is the most important
thing still, and for that we have Lila. Bodvar feels, and I agree, that we
need proper definitions of the levels to be able to seriously promote this
view - the only problem is that here is where we REALLY differ in opinion.

Thanks for opening a door. Definitions eh?

As Lennon sang; "What is is, what it is...everytime I put my finger on it,
it slips away".
I'm not much of a specialist in anything really so must let the "any
suggestions?" bit hang for a while. (You mean patterns within the levels or
the levels themselves?)
I'm a confused about patterns within patterns especially with the latest
financial/ economic crisis. I understand that conflictory patterns were
discussed briefly in LC (haven't finished reading this yet).

And this has to do with DQ and the free market:

I think that "latching" is a pattern of value that needs to be heeded by
many in the financial markets today. The simple notion that one person's
greed or testing of speculative abilities (looking for a bit of DQ?) can
place the economic situation of millions of individuals and families back to
square one requires some firm intellectual intervention. These types of
social values are a direct violation of...intellect's evolutionary
purpose...to help society find food, detect danger and defeat enemies".
Pirsig argues that this is its original purpose. "And when things get lost
and go adrift it is useful to remember that point of departure"(Lila p.306)
But where to start latching, keeping dynamic and static patterns in balance?
I'll continue to follow the Discuss, plough my way further through LC and in
between stare at my Chinese wall for a bit.

Regards to you all.
