Hi Steve, 

"Freedom from static patterns" might itself be called a static pattern. But 
I agree that creating specific forms or conceptions is NOT the DQ purpose. 
I characterize the DQ purpose as "openess to possibilities of evolutionary 
advancement." Does that description resonate with your idea of DQ?
