Ian, It would appear that the utility of 'a belief system' exists on a personal level and I wonder if the story-behind-the-story is that the Mongolian Buddhism-of-old has become a static social structure that communism had beat into the dust and the dynamic-of- novelty allows people to find and imbue meaning, that is seen as a Quality Experience, in this 'shiny new Christianity'.
Much as the staid brick-and-mortar Christianity of many westerners' upbringing (not to mention the crumbling stone Judaism) is easily over grown with the dynamic vine of vigorous young Buddhism in the west. (Maybe that is why Islam is movng west into Europe and so many "White Girls" can be seen wearing Hijabs, compared to a decade ago. ) A need for a balanced diet if you will... or maybe the compost of historical social structure supports new flowerings in new ways in the dynamic unfolding. So, start spreading around copies of ZMM and Lila in ye Olde England or learn to write in Arabic script. twitch...twitch thanks--mel ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ian Glendinning" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, February 02, 2009 2:30 AM Subject: [MD] Christianity Fills a Vacuum ? > MP / DMB / Arlo et al ... > > >> dmb replies: > >> It's simply absurd to suggest that "theism" can > >> exist in a vacuum. > > MP: I never said it did. > > > > Might find this interesting ? > http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/7860539.stm > > Regards > Ian > Moq_Discuss mailing list > Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. > http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org > Archives: > http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ > http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/ Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
