Pirsig has extrapolated a metaphysical system which, fortunately, is not
air-tight nor water-tight. It is not a straight jacket designed to minimize
movement and restain but rather maximise these within an overal moral
framework. In this sense it is a guide for all patterns. Any pattern that
claims absolute knowledge misses the points Pirsig and his MoQ are making.
This is one reason I have difficulty with e.g.the RC church, Islam, Mosaic
Law, Judaism etc....any theistically loaded PoV. They all claim ultimate
good, ultimate truth, ultimate this and ultimate that...to the exclusion of
other PoV's. I find it low quality indeed.

One big problem:Past and current theology's starting point is a defined
thematized God, God within the framework of being and Being. So the tendency
toclaim absolute knowledge. But God is totally Other beyond being, otherwise
than being.  Also theologians (of whatever theistic school) forget that
theology is context-bound interpretation. But if God is allowed freedom to be,
a new kind of theology might emerge. How access an undefined free God? I think
an MoQ guided theology is possible.

With regard to MoQ: Cannot MoQ broaden its concept of science to include
mystical/transpersonal  experience
as legitimate subject of inquiry? I personally think mystical/transpersonal
experience of Buddha, Sanga and Dharma, Nada y Todo, or of undefined God in the
practice of meditation-contemplation is of high quality, higher than SOM. I
believe the intellect can go beyond reason to apprehend a world closed to
reason and scientistic science. Be still and know . . . Even as a Christian I
accept MoQ because it allows me to appreciate the transpersonal world, It is a
good guide even for believers. Even if it is non-theistic.Definitely it is not
pro-atheism nor anti-atheism. Anti idolatry, YES. Anti idols of the mind, heart
and market place.
