All:

Hardly anyone believes the St. James biblical version of Genesis any more.
It's been relegated to the graveyard of ancient myths along with Beowulf,
Hercules and Little Red Riding Hood. But one part of the Genesis story as
passed down in one form or another for over 2000 years remains believable,
especially to MOQers, namely, "God saw that it was good," repeated a half
down times.

Whether it be the static patterns of light, water, land, grass, trees,
fish, birds, cattle, animals, man and woman -- all were seen as good. The
patterns changed, but their goodness remained the same.

Pirsig traced the idea of goodness being essential to understanding the
force of creation and its resultant reality back to the Greeks and even
before that. So it's not surprising to see it show up in the Christian
bible. As Pirsig put it:

"The physical order of the universe is also the moral order of the
universe. Rta is both. This was exactly what the Metaphysics of Quality was
claiming. It was not a new idea. It was the oldest idea known to man."
(Lila, 30)

The more I live with the MOQ the more I understand its relevance to all
aspects of the human experience.

Regards,
Platt
