Michael, The word "merely" was never written nor mentioned in the below post.
My opinion is that the choice of vegetariansim originates in the luxery of having food to choose from. Yes the human life vs. personal freedom subject is important but it's context lies primarily upon how our culture views and values human life and individual freedom. This was all I was trying to say, not to diminish it's social significance. -Ron ________________________________ From: Michael Poloukhine <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, March 17, 2009 12:03:57 AM Subject: Re: [MD] Subjectivity in the MOQ > Platt, > Because the morality you mention is social, what most of us value, > and you like to exhault, is the freedom of the individual. FWIW IMO most discussions in here are utterly pointless arguments of opinion (Q or DQ? please!) even when *not* considered against what is arguably the most important subject regarding human interaction; the subject of what value we ascribe to human life v. personal freedom. That you consider it merely a "social and cultural convention" leads me to believe you probably aren't a vegetarian either. MP ---- "Don't believe everything you think."
