i am in australia, a big land full of big things and big people and a big radio
station
jjj is a decent ad free music station that is national, receivable pretty much
anywhere.
for many years jjj has had a show by dr carl kruzilniewski, a scientist and
polymath who answers listener questions about scientific reality. he is very
SOM - deals with the small self stuff.
up until the last few years jjj also had a regular weekly show - the dream
show, where quentin watts, a dream interpreter would decode listeners dreams
live on air. the basic terminology she used to describe the process or dynamic
of dreaming was a dialogue between the higher and lower selves. i look back now
and see how amazing quentin was and how powerful it was to have someone,
matter-of-factly, explaining the higher/mythic operations of the
soul/psyche/universe. the proof was in the pudding too: the accuracy of her
interpretations, her gentle, eloquent explanations, the amazed/engaged/grateful
listeners, her lack of absolutism....
dream interpretation reminds me of tarot. i do a little bit of tarot for
friends and well anyone who asks and i like how the cards lead deeper than
themselves - to a specific, personal connexion or meaning, beyond or enhancing
the standard generic meaning. this process is interesting to witness....often i
will interpret a card generically, in relation to its position, then move on,
knowing i have only dealt superficially with it. later, i will come back and
aha! the deeper personal connexion becomes clear. another puzzle piece....
tarot is a remarkable metaphysical treasure: the story of the evolution of the
soul through incarnation - the 3 sets of 7 major arcana corresponding to the
perennial concept of a triune reality.
in tarot the information that is revealed and the manner in which it is
revealed (ie through the choices of the querent, ie synchronicity), combine to
pierce the small-self mental blinkers, allowing the individual to witness their
unfolding story, their unique story, that nevertheless takes place with the
same basic plot structure as everyone else's story.
where the unique and universal meet and merge....that is where the reflections
and resonances are most dazzling and fecund.
