Hello All, I had invited fifty-odd students to come with me for a last BBQ at the lake. All preparations had been done and we walked the hour-and-a-half in small groups to our destination. It was around nine in the morning, still chilly and foggy but lots of fun. There is always fun to be had with Chinese students.
We had reached the lake and the sun was just climbing over the hills spreading its yellow-orangy rays through the morning mists.Out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of sunrays dancing on the surface of the lake. A slight breath of air just stirring but to my amazement I saw that the mists rising from the surface of the water had begun to form themselves into circles of about four meters in diameter. I counted some eight to nine. I stopped, transfixed to the vision opening up to me. The circles had started to rotate and within each circle there were forming smaller circles of maybe two feet in diameter and they began to rotate within the bigger circle...some clock-wise, some anti- clock-wise and then the larger circles started to move! Whisps of mist emanating from them touched and encouraged by the ever increasing clariry of the yellow and orange rays of the sun gently licking and illuminating their shapes as they evaporated into the morning air. The entire scene was a dance, a choreography of small circles moving within larger circles that were moving and rotating clock-wise and anti-clock-wise on the surface of a gently cobbling plane of water. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I took one photo which now serves as a trigger to the movie which I have running in my brain whenever I want to. Just a diversion.
