There have been taboos/restrictions on marriage since its inception. 
But also inter-racial marriage.   Typically, this occurred as a result 
of military campaigns, when soldiers either occupied foreign lands or 
returned home with “war brides”.   Classic examples:   Greeks into Persia ; 
Mongols west across Asia ; Islam west across Africa & east as 
far as India ; Spanish into Central & South America.   Of course, the 
latter we don’t see today as inter-racial—we classify all decendents as 
Hispanic. 
But at the time there were no common ancestors of the Spanish & natives for 
tens 
of thousands of years.

  Since I’m not against gay or mixed-race marriage the answer is easy. 
For others, I would point out that there are requirements for getting 
married but not for staying married.
