Ron, I've read Plato, so I know what you mean. I've had Plato read to me, and that is fun too.
I write to Socrates when I write in my journal because he didn't write anything. Socrates is a virgin. It seems to me that too often people tend not to spend the time reading a work and settle for someone elses opinion of it, and often I find by learning more about philosophy it alters my understanding of a particular work, so I tend to do alot of re-reading. Like Dmbs interpetation of Hume, I thought he was a british empriricist I took him as a predessor of logical positivism so Dave Hume is next on my list of re-reads. ----- Original Message ---- From: MarshaV <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, August 25, 2009 7:40:19 AM Subject: Re: [MD] On dialectic before knowledge Sorry Ron, it was just an example of my kind of dialectic. I'm through with Plato. He and I are sooo over. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of X Acto Sent: Tuesday, August 25, 2009 7:29 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MD] On dialectic before knowledge we own a cat, or he owns us that thinks he's a dog a mad dog at that ----- Original Message ---- From: MarshaV <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, August 24, 2009 4:31:10 PM Subject: Re: [MD] On dialectic before knowledge Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people. The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad. Alice: How do you know I'm mad? The Cat: You must be. Or you wouldn't have come here. Alice: And how do you know that you're mad? The Cat: To begin with, a dog's not mad. You grant that? Alice: I suppose so, The Cat: Well, then, you see, a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad.
