Ron,

I think on July 7-8 was a different powwow, the Schemitzun is usually the
last weekend in August, sometimes the first weekend in September. It's huge
with tribes represented from all over the country. I've been to the Pequot
Museum, and it is a wonderful museum. Yes, maybe next year for the
Schemitzun.

I have cds of drumming and singing, and sometimes listening and painting in
the middle of the night, it can sweep me away.

A vision quest is a special event. I don't think I ever heard of an
equivalent event for women in the tribe, only the crazy ones, but I don't
know for sure.

I once dreamt of being the Fool on the edge of a cliff and contemplating
whether to jump or not. Of course I was a failure, because contemplating
(analyzing) was the wrong way, and eventually the dream made me realize I
was not yet ready for such a leap.

Marsha,
It was held at the Pequot museum July 7-8

next year perhaps?

The reservations have been hit hard by the recession

on another note

I made another vision quest

using sage of the divine

this time it induced the dream state

I lost all sense of self, history, and time as though
I fell into a dream, I forgot who I was and where I was at.
immersed in the now of the dynamic like a rushing river

I saw fractile patterns of the buddha in all patterns of nature

the patterns of nature seemed like they were trying to reclaim me

it was like dying or being born

and in 5 minutes it was over

I still became frightened when it seemed the dynamic of nature would swallow
me

lost among it's beautiful rushing flowing patterns and pulsations

Greetings,

Usually in the late summer our Connecticut casino Foxwoods holds a huge
powwow.  It is run by Mashantucket Tribe and called the Schemitzun Festival.
I've gone many times and really enjoyed the regalia, drumming, singing and
dancing.  Unfortunately this year it has been cancelled.

I posted the youtube video with seriousness because I love the drumming and
singing and the dignity of these people, and thought it might be a nice
calling everyone together, with maybe thoughts of the sweat lodge in ZMM.  I
didn't mean offense, I am just a bug...
