Sharath: Nothing in these link suggest that Buddhist "thought" was influenced by the Greeks. The other way around seems to be true.
Ron: The Quote: "It was a cultural consequence of a long chain of interactions begun by Greek forays into India from the time of Alexander the Great, carried further by the establishment of Indo-Greek rule in the area for some centuries, and extended during flourishing of the Hellenized empire of the Kushans. Greco-Buddhism influenced the artistic, and perhaps the spiritual framework, developments of Buddhism, particularly Mahayana Buddhism, founded in India, which represents one of the two main branches of Buddhism.[1] The Buddhist religious system was then adopted in Central and Northeastern Asia, from the 1st century CE, ultimately spreading to China, Korea and Japan." says nothing about Greeks influencing Buddhism? spiritual framework? then spread to central and north eastern asia? ok. Sharath: If you really want to know the roots of Buddhism and how they were influenced during the time of the Buddha it is better you read up on some Hinduism and the pagan culture that existed then in the whole of India rather than saying how Buddhism was influenced by greeks or moghuls or for that matter. Ron: I have read much on such things for quite a long time but Can you point me to your information for apearently my information are western lies. Sharath: And yes some of the links lie from Greece about the origin of sculptures. specifically 4 legged chariots in indian art are attributed to the greeks..which is totally incorrect. Also, the source of Mahayana buddhism as the northern part of India is debatable. Ron: Most of the information suggests that Greek culture INFLUENCED not created and therefore does not claim to be the SOURCE of Mahayana but you don't even concede to that notion ok Sharath On Wed, Sep 9, 2009 at 4:18 PM, X Acto<[email protected]> wrote: > > > > Sharath, > > I suppose these links lie too. > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greco-Buddhism > > http://www.mlahanas.de/Greeks/LX/GrecoBuddhistArt.html > > > http://www.mlahanas.de/Greeks/LX/GrecoBuddhism.html > > http://www.neosalexandria.org/greco_buddhism.htm > > http://schools-wikipedia.org/wp/g/Greco-Buddhism.htm > > http://academickids.com/encyclopedia/index.php/Greco-Buddhism > > http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Greco-Buddhism > > http://www.religionfacts.com/buddhism/history/hellenistic.htm > > > > > if they do, I'd like to know to correct my way of thinking. > > are they untrue? > > > -Ron > > > > Moq_Discuss mailing list > Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. > http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org > Archives: > http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ > http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/ > -- --Sharath ============================== Ping-pong & life are similar - both a quest for perfection. ============================== Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/ Moq_Discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
