Hi John, Good luck with your visit. Your explanation of the high road reminds me of something I read on the history of France. After the revolution, there was the Age of Reason. Since everything was supposed to be logical, they not only went over to the metric system, but also decided to change the whole calendar. I forget how it worked exactly, but it was all in base ten, so each week had ten days and so forth. Each day of the year was also given a specific separate name. And the hours/minutes of the day were all made metric base ten. I should have googled all this before I posted. But anyway, what appears to have happened is that Reason seems to have lost. People didn't want this base-ten structured reality, and so it disappeared (I'm sure Napoleon's had something to do with it). Based on this, I would tend to think that Quality does not like this high form of reason. In fact Quality may be opposed to the human intellect. Maybe that is why it is so hard to understand.

But in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on. Led Zeppelin ----- Oh, ye'll tak' the high road, and I'll tak' the low road And I'll be in Scotland before ye But trouble it is there, and mony hearts are sair On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond. Old Scottish Folk song, relating some trouble there is in arriving first ... as we shall witness. ----- Since ZAMM is basically a road book, and we're all on this journey together, lets pull out a map and see where we are, and what possible routes exist out there. Let's look at two different roads, the high and the low. A non-hierarchically-oriented guy such as myself, of course, doesn't believe in the intrinsic reality of this distinction, but since others do, we'll try and communicate with them and go ahead and use the terminology. The High Road, today, leads to the high halls of academia and world leadership wherein the profound logical superiority of the MoQ convinces entrenced self-interest to reconsider their established metaphysical structures. Good argumentation over-rules social inertia and self-interest. Eventually, we have more phds than them and so we win. The high road goes to the head. What I call the low road looks for the same changes in society, but goes to the bottom - it aims at the fellaheen feet of the dirt-digging masses; grabs their kids in kindergarten, teaching 'em how to live good lives, and thus make halls of power, academic or political, irrelevant. Now these two roads represent real choices made by real people, but before I talk a bit more about the two paths, and which I prefer (if anybody need ask, they haven't been paying attention) I want to say there is no reason for the two to be at odds or at war. We have a giant to topple, people. Hit 'em high AND low, I say. More blows the better. Let's get this revolution on the road. So, without more preamble, here's how I've got the low road mapped out for myself. And this relates to the question of whether the MoQ has any "utility". So, tomorrow is this event described as "The Meeting of the Minds", at DQ University. I am going. I have no idea what is going to happen, what the place is going to look like. How many people will be there. I don't even know if anybody is going with me. I asked my oldest daughter to come, but she got mad at me after only 20 hours at home and says not for a hundred million dollars. If I'm pissed at here for being an immature twerp... well who's fault is that? So oh well. I do know how to get there. Lu is bemused with a "wait and see" attitude, but not un-supportive, so that's good. Rudy wasn't sure, but since he did end up staying longer than expected, he'll probably come with me. I certainly hope so. He'd be my native guide, which can really come in handy. I could spend some time preparing, I guess. Read up. Prepare speeches. But any static expectation of mine would be counterproductive, I intuit. Go meet with people. Share with them a dream. Come back here and report. Simple enough assignment. Simple but distracting, so apologies for not replying to any ongoing threads for a few days. I'm trying to introduce Robert Pirsig's DQ to the Indigenous People's DQ and see if they can be friends.
