Hi Bruce, Thanks for the post, I think you are on to something. This may or may not be related, but I have a way to distinguish the real from the unreal, although it is not in the same vein as your post:
That which is real has no opposite. That which is unreal has an opposite. There is no opposite for a house or a dog, or a banana. There are opposites for wealth, anger, pride, and beauty. It's kind of a yin-yang thing. It may be confusing as it defines the Real in a different way than that of philosophical reality. However, I hope that you see how it may intertwine with dynamic quality. That said, it is my philosophy and not that of the Moq. The UnReal: I define the UnReal as those systems and items created by "man" that are given importance by the social and intellectual levels. They are things that "we" value and may even live for. They are part of "our reality" and may overlap into what we need in order to survive. Items and systems that are part of the UnReal: money, jobs, houses, churches, cars, boats, clothing, office buildings, roads, television, entertainment, philosophy, religion, control, anger, fear. Sex, etc. As you will see, things within the UnReal may overlap with things in the Real. The difference is within an individual's or a societal perception of these things and how the item may be concealed or manipulated. The Real: The Real is anything that you must have in order to survive and those things that connect directly to "earth", "nature", "spirit" and "truth". Real are relationships, family, friendships, love, clarity of mind and spirit. It is enlightenment and spirituality and the reduction of control, fear and anger. It is sex, philosophy, and religion without the purpose of control and manipulation. The Real are the true necessities of life and that which is beyond life. Real is Birth. Real is death. Real is love. Real is biological, but biological is also UnReal as the Real precedes and supersedes biology. The Real is that which you desire to connect with. The Real is the "mystical what". The Real is Dynamic Quality. The Real is Quality itself. We connect to the Real in many different ways. We connect with the Real at birth and at death. We connect to the Real when we experience relationships. We connect to the real when we experience nature. We connect with the Real when we experience death of others or animals. We experience the Real when we help others. We experience the Real when we touch people and animals. We experience the Real when we laugh and when we are cry. Sex is one of the few ways that the UnRreal and the Real intensly connect through biology. We experience the Real when we seek the truth through religion, prayer, meditation, philosophy, and science. We experience the Real when teaching and learning. We live in the UnReal in our self created and perpetuated world of money, jobs, cars, clothing, houses, and entertainment. The UnReal is not bad or evil. The UnReal are simply systems and items that have been created to help improve life for individuals and move human life and experience forward. UnReal creates comfort and flavor in our lives. However, UnReal are the things that often cover up and disguise the Real in our lives in such things as food, relationships, sex, death, birth, etc. Real things often are plasticized and the truth of the item becomes lost. A couple of examples of this are food items such as eggs, milk, meat, and vegetables that are put on shelves for sale and the true connection to the Real is lost. Also, funerals coverup the reality of death to make it look more like sleep and in that, the Real is lost in a lie. There are thousand of examples, but people need to see and experince what is Real. People seek out the Real in positive and negative ways when the UnReal attempts to conceal the Real. Some of the greatest anger is generated when religions portray their "faith" as Real when actually the UnReal illusions are fashioned to portray the Real. There must be balance between the Real and the UnReal. Without balance, there are results that affect individuals, families, societies, etc. negatively. Individuals and societal groups seek the Real in many ways. Some go to church to develop relationships and to find "God". Some people seek out nature to see its beauty. Some seek out nature and desire to experience death in killing for food or just for pleasure. Some people turn to groups of common interests to discuss philosophy and religion and some turn to sex and pleasure. That said, if an individual or group separates from the UnReal and dwells too much seeking the "Real" then the individual or group is often seen as deviant, punished, or even exiled from society. I often think of this as in religions where, for a small example, a person joins a group such as Jehovah Witness and are totally consumed by the group. They get so caught up in trying to please the group and seek the "Real" that it affects the family income, the child's ability to participate in social customs, etc. On the other hand, if individual or group dwells too much in the UnReal and rarely seek the Real, they lose touch with "Reality" itself. I think of this as the "Scrooge syndrome" from the well known Dickens A Christmas Carol. However, on a greater scale, when society becomes too consumed with the UnReal, it begins to change and lose touch with biology and become too soft and fat. Individuals no longer participate, but become watchers rather than doers. Food becomes entertainment rather then necessity. Animals are no longer food or beasts, but become pets. Learning is not knowledge, but a test score. Sex is not a true connection in love, but a sales tool and entertainment. And Death? It is just another form of sleep. We can deny the Real. We begin to think we have total control over everything. However, just when it appears that we have control and that the UnReal is the Real, in all things come balance. For society, balance usually occurs from nature or from catastrophic events that help us to recognizes the truth and awaken us from our delusions of the UnReal. We are shaken and regain focus on the Real. Bruce _________________________________________________________________ Your E-mail and More On-the-Go.
