Bodvar:
"Computer language" is just another language even if using other
symbols and grammar and - likewise - no on would say that the
Neanderthals and Cro Magnons were intellectuals only because they
had language and manipulated its symbols by rules of grammar and
syntax. Even Pirsig makes a fool of himself in his effort to avoid the
conclusion that most of LILA points to. In "Lila's Child" however, he
suddenly found the SOL conclusion offensive and produced some of
the most un-moqish annotations I know.
Ron:
I thought you had a legitimate quote supporting your SOL interpetation!
You even had Pirig quoted as saying "... I fully agree with Bo's insight
that the SOM and the
intellectual level are one and the same. To support it , to protect it, to
avoid losing it and sinking back to "anything goes" irrationalism or a
"because God says so" mentality ...and ends with saying "..To that
end the MOQ is the best S/O answer I've found yet."
Did Pirsig say this as you imply with the quote, or did he as you say above,
"he suddenly found the SOL conclusion offensive and produced some of
the most un-moqish annotations I know." why would he make such a ringing
clear endorsement then bash it? you say it lies in (page 396 in Lila's Child)
going to check that out this afternoon. One of you sounds like your not being
very consistent.
