Only if you substitute Quality for 'God' and all its connotations the gap is created through the religious institutions which simply say that mystical,direct experience is not attainable for you (because you are born in sin as the Christian faith would have it) but!! if you do the right thing and keep your faith and, more importantly, go through our intermediaries (priests) they will help you keep this faith and if it proves to be strong enough (in the eyes of God) you may, if you are lucky or 'graced, or 'blessed' receive 'direct, religious experience.
