[John] You know what really gets me about these religious types and their interpreting of "God's wrath" type stuff is how inconsistent they are.
[Arlo] I always found it funny that the "Supreme Creator" would have the time (and desire) to intervene in a sports game, and help Player A catch a touchdown (apparently his team was more pious?), but in the face of epidemics, earthquakes, floods, cancer, birth disorders, rape, child abuse, torture, genocide, rape gangs, female circumcision, child abduction, diseases, senility, starvation, etc., well "He" apparently either (1) doesn't have the time to be bothered (too busy stacking Vegas sports bets?) or (2) doesn't care. And "He" is sloppy as all hell. Here we have Ted Bundy, a single isolated sociopath raping and killing innocent women, and he leaves it up the police. But some generic bemoaning like "tolerating homosexuals" and He is happy to wipe out an entire city or island, innocents and all. You would think the "Supreme Creator" would have a bit more accuracy in his aim. I mean, he can help Player A catch a touchdown, why can't he snipe out the Ted Bundy's without taking hundreds or thousands of innocent bystanders down with him? But where you see "inconsistency", John, I see nothing but 100% consistency. Their "interpretation of God's Wrath" is always and totally "something someone else did". Take the fine folks at Westboro. For them, God is smiting the denizens because we are "fag lovers". The Westboro folk are quite the "fag haters", so you see its "because of other people who aren't like them". You'd never convince them that God's wrath has anything to do with fringe psychopaths who make their life's work spreading hatred. Nooooo. Can't be THAT! Its always the boogeyman, John. Oh sure, the boogeyman changes from nutcase to loon, but under all its various vestments, its always the Big Bad Other that is responsible for all the worlds ill, for bring "God's Wrath" down on the earth. Of this there is 100% consistency. For once I'd love to see a tele-evangelist say, about an earthquake or flood or something, "Oh shit! God's pissed because we aren't feeding the hungry as best we could! Quick, everyone, volunteer at your soup kitchens! Donate food! Hurry!" But no, no, no, that will not happen. Not when there are gays, whores, atheists, druggies, and various "ne'er do wells", etc that MUST be the cause...
