French "l'ORDINATEUR"

The French people are really, really chauvinistic, products need to sound
French,
or they are about unsellable.

The French ibm department shaped the word probably using , calculateur
(calculator)
and the German word 'ordnung' order.

the best way to think of it for translating would be, in fact , cardexer,
indexer, to create order.

It was adapted immediatly by the French as translation for computer, its common
speech use nowedays.
nobody knows its origin by now, btw , its the male form, Le ORDINATEUR, female
form should be La Ord...
its one of the stupiest words they ever invented according to me.

The Britisch and Americans are better in inventing words, like twaindrivers,
twain, "tool without an interesting name"

in German speech pc , computer =Rechner, calculator
