Theocracy eff's up the ineffable. Christ's virtually last words to his disciples was in essence, "you don't want me to go, but unless I go, you will never grow up". They didn't understand what he meant when he said, "the comforter will come and He will be your guide" But what he was pointing to was that as long as external authority was enthroned, the inner-voice, the conscience, that which says to each of us what is good and what is not good, DQ to the soul, can never be developed when external authority is respected. Religious theocracy always wants to replace this voice with external rules and regulations. But it is Royce's Community of Infinite Interpretation, that is our goal. The ongoing conversation which creates conflict and troubles our heart, but is the only path of salvation. Hence the protestant revolution, which birthed the enlightenment of scientific revolution and found its fullest expression in the American Freedom of Religion. (and Freedom FROM Religion as well) Hmmm... sorta sounds like the same reason RMP doesn't participate in MD with a bunch of papal bull, doncha think? Jesus and Bob, together at last! John laughing his ass off.
