Well, no. The hard problem is posed in order to show the inadequacies of 
physicalist explanations of consciousness. This physicalist view is more or 
less the same thing as scientific materialism or scientific objectivity, which 
is Pirsig's main target of attack. You know that saying wherein the enemy of my 
enemy is my friend? I think Chalmers and Pirsig are friends in that sense, at 
least.
