ok aDrie, here's what I'd send to your address. comments? You really want
me to do it?

------------
Dear dr. steve,

Your name and reputation came up in an online discussion, to which I posed a
few questions about your ideas, which nobody could refute or contradict, and
I was challenged, subsequently, to pose my questions to you directly.

I really have two issues of contention. The first has to do with my reading
of your book, A brief History of Time, and the second with a recent comment,
that I only heard about somewhat third-handedly, reputed to you, that
"philosophy is dead". If you did not make that statement, nor endorse it,
then ignore the second half of my contention and I'm sorry to bother you.

Which I am, anyway, but there it is. I've been challenged to a task and I
must complete it.

The heart of my issue with your book, is the title. Which I could never
quite get past. A brief history of time? Really dr. steve?

If this was meant at all ironically, then I worry at all the school children
and the common people who watch tv specials on "the age of the universe" who
don't seem to be in on the joke, and yet take it all so seriously. If it
wasn't meant ironically, but seriously, then I wonder at the reasoning
behind your reputation as a great and serious thinker? If there really is
some way to contextualize the space-time continuum, without doing some
philosophy, could you please enlighten us all?

I will be posting your response to this same group which elicited it from
me.

Sincerely,

John Carl
