It's not irrelvant. It's about something. I don't see how that is dickish in the least, let alone the act of a "total dick". I'm saying that you were unfairly insulting me and your response to that is just to unfairly insult me some more. And just for the record, I think your denials about being pissed off are contradicted by the use of such strong language. I also that "total dick" is a bomb whereas "you're driving me crazy" is a slap on the wrist - or something like that - and any reasonable person would say those two phrases are obviously disproportional. You're escalating the hostility way beyond proportion. Next time, why not just say, "hey, I don't appreciate the way you put it but I just meant to say...". Look, I really don't understand this reaction at all. If I tell you that I'm frustrated, it's not because I want to share my feelings with you and I certainly don't think you ought to cater to my feelings anyway. What I'd like - and I think it's only reasonable - is some effort to address my concern, some effort to address the source of my frustration, some effort to grapple with the substance of the matter; what I'm calling a false dilemma. We already covered the idea that everyone in question rejects the correspondence theory and I just posted an explanation as to why I also reject the epistemological notion that "it's language all the way down". I tried to explain how, epistemologically speaking, its NOT language all the way down. That's the third option I was trying to get at when our little dispute about false dilemmas and dickishness began. I hope you'll take that up and otherwise de-escalate the hostility.
