I don't go clubbing much, so it was a rare event anyhow, but as an "all ages
event" I was pretty comfortable when I looked around me and found, all ages.
Old farts, fat old women, hot young babes, buff dudes, weird dudes and
nerdy dudes and pre-teens. So nobody would feel out of place, in a place
like that and I didn't, even though my "date" was my daughter. She doesn't
go to places like that much either, so she hung on to dad and we both hung
on to a rail in the back and have a pretty good time for 7 bucks. Bands
these days tend to run to big synthesized sound and really good singers and
actual drummers. One "band" was just two guys, a real athletic and showy
drummer - an asian looking guy who I swear was DANCING those drums, rather
than playing them. Especially when he was jumping on the bass pedal and
coming out of his seat, and a real good singer who also played good guitar
and manipulated the synth mach. bass. He'd have been a top act, with more
than one song, as it was, he was pretty popular. Then came Awolnation and
they were very good, very energetic. I guess their song "Sail" first got
played a lot in the Sacto. Market and that's how my daughter and I heard of
them. The old fashioned way - over the radio which then got lots of
requests for the song. Which encouraged them to try out the songs in front
of an audience.

The cultural advantages (as it were) of living near a major metropolis, I
guess.

f'ed up Ron? Nah, Dirty Filthy Soul was pretty straight on, you want, f'ed
up, then MFer is the song for you.
