Dear MOQ'ers:
It is my pleasure to announce the publication of a response I wrote in
response to Sam Harris' Q&A section on the Amazon site to promote his
'The Moral Landscape'. I remember that dmb made the first suggestion and
also remember a kind of a non response/non take up of the idea to do this.
I accepted the challenge and started writing...with the encouragement of
dmb, Anthony and later Mr. Pirsig himself. I felt it was a good
opportunity to to go outside the MOQ Discuss and respond to
assertions/arguments made by a figure such as Sam Harris to openly begin
to deal with those issues that are of concern to us all.
I may not have succeeded entirely in this endeavour...to do true justice
to the difficulties Sam Harris attempts to get to grips with and the
solutions which the perspective the MOQ offers. All is provisional and I
just hope that this open letter furthers the interest in the MOQ and
that it offers a more than viable alternative to all existing
philosophical approaches offered thus far concerning the state and so
called fate and future of sentience.
