Mark to Arlo:

DQ and sq are often depicted as distinct concepts with DQ promoting sq. It is
this relationship that I am interested in within MoQ, and I am hoping that your
reading may shed some light on this.

Andre:
Hi Mark, here is what Pirsig says about this specific relationship:
'The Dynamic reality that goes beyond words is the constant focus of Zen
teaching. Because of their habituation to a world of words, philosophers often
do not understand Zen. When philosophers have trouble understanding the
distinction between static and Dynamic Quality it can be because they are
trying to include and subordinate all Quality to thought patterns. The
distinction between static and Dynamic Quality is intended to block this' (
Anthony's PhD, p42)

It is a trap I often fall into. When you do, DQ disappears. (see my latest post
and dmb's response. Thanks dmb)

Anyway, sorry for butting in.
