Hi Joe, Zero is nothing. It cannot be defined as something. This is the marvel of math which makes nothing out to be something. In the same way, language can make the nothing of DQ out to be something. It all depends on how useful that something is whether it is meaningful and something to share with others. If we have nothing to share about DQ, then it can remain nothing. It is hard to go anywhere on zero, let alone eat it. Can't remember when the last time was that I bumped into Zero.
The midpoint is exactly the same relationship we have with reality according to Taoism. That is, we exist between +1 and -1 (one could even say "always exactly" no matter where we are; for, no matter where you go, there you are). Funny how math imitates Taoism? Must have something to do with all those straws from the I Ching. Or perhaps it is due to the construction of the human brain, which can only form certain things. Or perhaps it is one of those elusive pattern thing-a-majigs. Who knows? Maybe it is nothing at all. Maybe life is what it is like to live in Zero. Can you imagine living in something other than zero? I bet it is wonderful! Can't wait for the "other side". On second thought, I can wait, God willing.
