Is the 'awareness' mentioned, this 'endless landscape' similar to MOQ's
Quality? MOQ's Quality? Similar to Northrop's undifferentiated aesthetic
continuum''? William James''flux'? Similar to (Phaedrus hints at this) the
subject matter of all of the perennial philosophies: Nothingness, Suchness,
Spirit, Zen's 'Primordial Face', the Christian's 'God', etc? I am aware
that in the MOQ Quality is experience.

dmb says:
Yes, I think that's the idea. DQ is already familiar to everyone. The endless
landscape of awareness, the immediate flux of life, direct everyday experience.
It's not fancy or transcendent. We can only be conscious of a fraction of that
endless landscape. Static patterns are always taken from this larger field of
awareness, are always derived from this primary empirical reality. To say that
everything in world, as we understand it consciously, is only a handful of sand
taken from an infinite landscape is the same as saying DQ is the source and
substance of everything. Or, you could say that the primary empirical reality
is the source of all static pattens or experience is the basis of all ideas
about reality, which is experience.

Following from this can we state that static patterns of value refer to or are
indications of levels of 'consciousness'? Where organic patterns of value
experience events/are conscious of events and react to these experiences
organically, according to the laws of nature? And, further up the levels
(social, intellectual) with increasing consciousness of freedom. ... And that
to return to this awareness one must 'kill all intellectual patterns' i.e.
detach from them. The injunctions for 'reaching' this state as laid out in the
various perennial philosophies are unanimous in this. In that sense they are
termed 'trans-mental'/trans-intellectual which can be read as 'above' or
perhaps as 'pre-intellectual'. I am here of course talking about prayer,
meditative and contemplative practices.

dmb says:
Yes, I think there are several different things going on here but they're all
right and intimately related. It works if you're talking about everything in
the encyclopedia (the handful of static sand) as four evolutionary levels. It
works if you're talking about individual people being composed of the four
levels and engaged in their own evolutionary struggle. And "killing the static
patterns" works if you're meditating to quiet the mind or engaged in some
artful practice wherein the static patterns have been put to sleep by mastery,
by the ability to "use" static patterns without even thinking about it. Again,
these elements all fit together quite neatly but artful mechanics and
contemplative monks have different methods and goals.

Perhaps seeing it in this way explains the intuitions, the 'dim apprehensions
through a weakening/shattering of static patterns because the 'endless
landscape of awareness' has been overlaid/covered up with piles and piles of
static intellectualization. Therefore this 'endless landscape' has never been
absent (you are already enlightened, you just do not realize it) Remove the
intellectualizations and in a flash Quality will be revealed (the Dharmakaya
Light)...push one 'level' farther and it will be revealed that you are that
(tat tvam asi) meaning you are those patterns-not just a select bundle you call
your 'self' or 'ego'. No, all of them. And realizing this, all is just as it
is. Very normal...360 degrees....Quality perceived through static patterns.
Realizing the harmony at the center of it all. (Anthony's PhD, p38)

Yep, it's like the blue sky being reveled as the wind blows the clouds away.
...Thanks, Andre. Your points are sensible and interesting.
