In a discussion thread "[MD] Awareness and consciousness in the MOQ" from
2012 i found people having a discussion about the qualification of Moq.
John reads moq as a compas and Arlo prefers to see moq as a map.
Personally i understand MOQ as a map and a compas Where the four static
levels of quality being the map and dynamic quality acting as our compass.[MD]

[John]
All I'm saying Arlo, is that I don't read the MoQ as a map. I read the
MoQ as a compass. I'll make my own map, thank you.

[Arlo]
Which is effect what we all do, really. We are all part of the larger
historical dialogue, and from that we listen and we speak and we try to
make sense of what's in front of us. A compass, to me, would seem to
indicate a certain 'objectivity' (it always points 'north' regardless of
where you are or what situation you are in), but that may be my own use
of the word.

[John]
It's not designed to be useful to anyone else. My map is strictly for me.

[Arlo]
I suppose it depends on how you define "useful". I find maps others have
made of certain topographies useful if for no other reason that to see
how others defined certain problems and how they suggested they be
resolved.

I want to argue that you can use the territory, map, compass metafor
to show the relationship between SOM and MOQ

To me SOM can be explained by just using the methafor of the territory
and the map where i see the territory as the objective world which
cannot be known in itself and the map as the subjective world
represented as symbolic representations of the territory in our minds.

To me MOQ emerges by adding a compas to the Map,Territory methafor.
This Compass emerges by understanding the relationship between the
objective territory and the subjective symbolic map.

To understand this relationship i introduse the idea of resonance as a
relationship between the objective territory and the subjective mind
map consisting of symbols.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resonance
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_factor

Pure Objective knowledge can not be known because it can only exist as
a symbolic derivative in the subject. What we know as objecttive
knowledge is knowledge gathered in a methodical way that minimizes the
influence of subjective bias. This can symbolicly be seen as maximum
separation between the subject and object S<=>O And can from my point
of view be seen as the most Static Quality

Pure Subjective knowledge can only be known emotionally because in
this situation the symbolic map of the mind has so much detail that it
can not be distinguished from the objective territory anymore. This
can be seen as total resonance rise and causes the subjective
self(ego) to cease to exist. Whats left is pure emotional feeling and
can in my perspective be seen as a way to approach DQ. This can also
symbolicly be expressed as S=O

Our everyday experience can be seen as a symbolic subset of the
objective territory thats partly resonating somewhere in the spectrum
between total S<=>O and total S=O. So everyday experience consists of
elements of S<=>O creating the map + elements of S=O being the
compass. The more elements of S=O the better you feel. From my point
of view can the approach of total S=0 or DQ be understood as
intuition.

The question is always, What do you trust more? Your map or your compass.

As an experienced skipper i know that they are equally inportant.

Kind regards
