The problem I see with this article is that it sees the issue as "either / or". 
Rather, Philosophy is done--and philosophers exist--both "in the world" and in 
the academy. Hugh Hefner promoted the "Playboy Philosophy" (which he saw as the 
good life) in the world. Others study Epicureanism in the academy.  Why not 
have both?

I agree. I thought the article uncovers the same basic problem as Pirsig 
articulates, but fails to offer any substantive solution (as Pirsig attempts in 
ZMM).
