Jonathan: **God vs. Anhanga** seems to me like a pretty reasonable metaphysical definition of good vs. evil. Glove: Kind of reminds me of the Zuni brujo and his battle with the priests. Pirsig was using this analogy to illustrate Dynamic Quality it is true, but I think if we look at this, it's more of a battle between the social and intellect levels. The intellect level is more Dynamic because it is more "chaotic". The social level wants to organize, create. But once the social level has created something, it must be destroyed for something new to grow in its place. If this isn't recognized, the destructive intellect level may be perceived as something evil. Isn't this very notion what brought on the Dark Ages? It sounds suspiciously like a stasis in the Metaphysics of Quality to me. Certainly our ancestors must have had to "outgrow" this phase, but look how many hundreds of years the intellect was persecuted and condemned. Are we really that far removed from those tribes in Brazil even now? This leads into a rant about the new Lila Squad I am afraid. I have kind of been quiet about all the goings on and I really like the new webpage layout...it's very well done I think. But as far as the moderated list, I will not be joining now or any time in the future. This month has produced some of the best posts I have read since joining the LS back in, what, early June of '98 I think. And we had no PROGRAM topic at all in January '99. With a moderated list, how many of those posts would have made it thru? I ask you. And it would all depend on who is doing the moderating. I for one would rather have that choice myself. Take a look at the diversity and different ideas being bantered around. Sure, there are quite a few posts to wade thru, but there are some real gems in there. And with the archive mailing list, I don't even have to save anything. All I have to do is go to the archives. I remember Hugo Alroe suggested a few months ago that there be no PROGRAM topic at all, and I would like to second the motion. At least for the unmoderated list anyway. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
