Greetings,
David. You may be surprised to hear that I'm a professional jazz musician and my
favourite topic is
music. You want everything reduced to mysticism and so leave no room for science, but
we genuine
artists in the squad consider the 'raison d'tre' of the MoQ to be that of a possible
bridge between
science and art and so make it our business to consider both. Indeed, we don't make
the naive (SOM?)
distinction between humanities and science that you insist upon and so are able to
discuss the MoQ
at a level of relevance which completely passes you by.
Think about it. What is the difference between science and art? If you conclude that
there is a
difference then what value does the MoQ have for you. If you don't see the difference
then
congratulations upon belatedly making the first step up the mountain, you can now
withdraw your last
posting.
Boring? Irrelevant? Come on David, if you can only stretch to a couple of feeble
insults then at
least make them slightly believable. You could have chosen, arrogant, conceited,
overbearing,
reactionary, scornful, insensitive, intolerant of fools, or a whole host of other
flaws in my
character, yet you label me with your own faults - a most interesting choice.
Here is a nice story for you:
"A foolish man was raving at a donkey. It took no notice. A wiser man who was watching
said: 'Idiot!
The donkey will never learn your language - better that you should observe silence and
instead
master the tongue of the donkey.'"
And then Struan came along and said to the fool, "forget the donkey and buy a tractor,
why should
you learn to understand him when he knows nothing beyond his nose bag?" I suppose
neither the fool
nor the wise man nor myself were relevant or interesting to the donkey.
Keep it up, I'm always game for a laugh, but I suggest a private e-mail next time. It
will save you
considerable public embarrassment and be more 'relevant' to the task in hand.
Struan
