Hi again MoQ folks;
Someone once told me that wisdom is what you get from a lifetime of listening when you would rather be talking. In the spirit of this axiom I decided to just lurk for last weeks/months and just read instead of post. While there have been some interesting conversations going on I have to say that all the ad hominem style comments that I was hoping would dissolve away in favor of MoQ centered conversation are still alive and well here. When I saw the above suggestion from Diana I thought it was a great topic. If Quality drives everything then why do we continuously do things that we KNOW to be low Quality? Why do I smoke cigarettes when I know everyone is dragging me closer to death? Why don't I recycle more? Why don't I exersize? Why do we (Lila Squad) let ourselves be lured into arguments rather then take part in discussions? Back when Fintan was selling his MoM I really let some his comments get too far under my skin and while I still don't agree with much of what he says, I have come to love the way he says it. SO here goes:
In the Gorgias Socrates claims that, "A man who has learned about right will be righteous." In other words, no man will do wrong if he knows it is wrong. Does this extend to the MoQ? Will a person (or a society, or a molecule) knowingly choose a low Quality action over a high quality action? This is my suggestion for topic of the month (well, I guess it's really Diana's).
It's all still good,
Rick
