According to our charter, I would say repeating the entire message in your
response is pretty much an intellectual catastrophe. :-)
Seriously, I am reluctant to label an event or a pattern as belonging to a
level. This only leads to confusion IMHO. In reality, almost everything we
can conceive is composed of as the interplay between multiple levels and
patterns. In fact , it is interesting to note that all of the examples you
provided are not single level catastrophes either. WWII was a biological
/social catastrophe. Meteors are Inorganic/ biological. This gets right back
to last month's EVIL thread . Quality at one level can be viewed as contrary
in some cases to the levels around it.
But, with that as a warning, I see Socialism and Eugenics as intellectually
influenced social and biological nightmares. They fail the Pragmatic test.
