Hi group,
I have heard a lot of talk recently in the group
about all of the postings being childish and worthless. (Maybe not the
exact words) This is certainly a viewpoint that everyone is entitled to,
but one that I disagree with. Recently I have noticed some very good
post. I especially liked David's post of Feb. 21 about Zen and the
intellect. I believe that he hits the situation right on when he talks
about not being able to understand mysticism, and also about mysticism being
post-rational. I have suffered with this problem for a while, and am
continuing to suffer. The more I try to prove something about mysticism
the more I go round and round without getting anything solved. I can only
point to mysticism like (in Zen) the expression a finger pointing at the
moon. This has bothered me because for some odd reason I keep trying to
prove mysticism aspects. I have never been able to do it yet. I also
suspect that mysticism is a REAL "thing", even though I haven't been
able to prove any of my beliefs. Most people that read the books would probably
agree with this. To me not being able to understand or prove this
mysticism is disconcerting, and troubling. But perhaps I am trapped in the
intellectual framework of thought, or more likelly the Subject-Object frame of
thought. Nevertheless the post have been enlightening, and have shown that
people do have a good understanding of MoQ. I think there are differences
in opinion, but those are points like mu questions. In other words those
are the questions that you grow on.
Also I believe I see a lot of rigid types of
classification in the different so called "levels" of quality.
Perhaps how "reality" really is in essence is more freeflowing and not
so chopped up. In other words not divided into such rigid
classifications. But there is no doubt that there are some distinctions,
as to where certain elements of quality lie. I would have to say that
society is good, intellectualism is good, and mystic or dynamic quality is
good. All of them are in certain aspects different, but really make
up the whole. We need them all, and even though I feel intellectualism
falls short of the dynamic quality mark, I realize that it is needed. We
as humans are intellectual beings, who armed with our amazing brains have to
always probe deeper into the unknown aspects of life.
Really "quality" is a good
dog.
