MYSTIC ROGER WEIGHS IN ON THE NEW LEVEL

Nice job of exploring a new level, Kev.

I enjoy the thread, and find many reasons to agree with you. Foremost is
Pirsig's rejection of the intellect at the end of Lila. Pirsig places his
faith in Direct Experience. (And unlike some, I don't hold the number of
levels to be at all sacred.) I also strongly agree with 3 or 4 things you
have written on the evolution of the universe toward greater unity. The
parabola toward the y axis was a great analogy.

The problem with your argument is with the definition of DQ. DRose wrote
recently that DQ can be experienced in any of the levels. I would clarify
that DQ is experience. It is undivided experience. The MOQ subscribes to
Radical Empiricism. Reality consists of direct experience. All else is
abstraction.

Mystics attempt to strip themselves of static abstractions to get closer to
direct, unfiltered experience. This experience can later be sorted as
intellectual, social, biological, etc.Subjects and objects are analogous
experiences. A mystical level is superfluous in the MOQ.

In a way, you can say I disagree with adding mysticism as a level. However,
this is because I believe that it diminishes the importance of unfiltered
experience. As RMP states, DQ permeates and creates all the levels. Adding a
level pursuing unity with DQ implies that the unity isn't there already.

Let's continue this thread though, because I sense even greater dynamic unity
along these lines. Let me know your thought on my concerns, and let us see
where the universe guides.
