couiple of thoughts about the mystical/biological discussion. maybe
i'm not getting the gist of the discussion so far (it's been known to
happen) - but it seems to me that mystics have less to do with the
biological level than non-mystics. even definitions of mystic (most
involve references to "spirit" and "spiritual") would seem to indicate
that the mystic is more in touch with the spirit (whatever that is for
you) - for me the spirit is definitely not - physical (and therefore
not biological)

when i look at myself as a mystic - what comes to mind is my efforts
to focus past the physical/biological and tap into the spiritual
forces in the universe - the energy that exists all around us.

re: abandoning biological patterns. i don't see this as killing off
the body (but i can see how it could be taken that way) - it's more
like focusing past the physical. has anyone ever meditated abd
reached a place where their awareness of their body ceased? at times
when i meditate, i go there....no awareness (that i can sense) of the
body....pure spirit/energy....no longer feeling the ground beneath me
or the breathes i take.....feels like i am in touch with the universe
itself. would this not be a way of abandoning biological patterns?

Shalom
