Until early 1999 I was firmly planted in the rational camp with you Jonathan.
I thought the mystic-oriented members of the forum were new age wackos.....
Then I found that my interpretation of mysticism was indeed obscured through
a dense fog of cultural baggage. I was never really disapointed with Lila
though. I went from reading it and paying no attention to the mysticism, to
reading it and focusing (many would argue) too much on the mysticism. The
same book, but different experience...
