Chapter 12 of Lila is only about 8 pages long and it addresses the
mind/matter issue directly. You'll see that the whole transition from SOM to
the MOQ hinges on "substance" and the flawed intellectual frameword that
surrounds it. There is some smart conversation going on here, but I think
you've really got to focus in on that or this vicious cycle will only go on
and on forever. 

And for goodness sake, please remember that even inorganic patterns have
experience too. This ain't just about human perceptions. All four levels are
involved here. James was no physicist and Bohr was not a psychologist, but
Pirsig doesn't mind and the difference  hardly matters. You know?
