the thing about the social level removing a component of the biological level
is that the biological component is no longer a threat to society once he is
arrested. when the human body destroys a virus (organic vs inorganic), that
virus was harmful to the body up until the point when it was destroyed.
also, pirsig says human beings are 'collections of thought,' which makes them
connected to intellectual quality in that respect. so the death penalty is
society removing a harmless biological component along with traces of
intellectual quality inside of it.
