Hey Marco,

Please don't think I'm one of those that poo-poo's everything he sees that
doesn't have MoQ in the discussion line. When I said
> MoQ is a general description of everything, everything is an extension of the
> MoQ.
I meant it. I think politics is one of the most interesting extentions.
Because of the sheer magnitude of the discussion I haven't felt up to
getting involved. I read a few of the early ones of the most recent
debate, but swore off reading the others because I didn't want to get
sucked in. Besides, people were getting a little excited there for a
while. I just don't have the time or energy as a student to take on an
entire web-site (though whatever side I took, I'm sure I wouldn't have been
alone, but it sure did seem like the whole list came out to voice there
opinion on it).

You are absolutely right about the MD being a free-ranging discussion.
That's probably the most admirable quality about it. When it's
free-ranging it allows you pick a thread and take it where you want to.
It's how new perspectives and insights are built and formed.

I guess I sit in the middle of the whole thing. I like the free-ranging
aspect, but I think sometimes people let it get too sloppy. I don't think
there's been an entire thread that's been sloppy and expendeble, so it's
nothing you can really put your finger on. It's unmoderate, so you're
right, it may be unavoidable. I guess I'm just crying out for people to
make more of a conscious effort. I don't know, maybe that's out of line
for here.

Sigh,

Matt
