The quote was actually from (Lila Child, p.363)

Greetings,

Here I was on a cold, November day, reading this wonderful and wise
book, when out from the page came the words of a very, wise man:

"The Living Proof:
You can't deny that to live (maintain reality) requires assumptions
about what is good. You have to act to live. Action presupposes
choice, choice presupposes purpose, and purpose presupposes value.
Examples: it's good to keep your eyes on the road while driving. It's
better to chew gum than smoke." (Lila Child, p.363)

Well, is this a metaphysics for talk, or living. I bought a box of
NicoDerm that very afternoon. I had only been smoking for a little
over 2 years, so it was just mildly difficult.
