[Platt] Yes. I hope you focused like a laser on UNPREDICTABLE. > Since what we are talking about, climate, is basic to all > life on the planet it would seem that knowingly mucking about it would be > regarded as a bad thing.
[Case] As noted awhile back there is this chance that warming may slow down the advent of the next ice age. But since climate is chaotic changes in the existing conditions will have unpredictable results. [Platt] "Mucking about" could turn out to be a good thing. Remember, unpredictable. [Case] The cost to benefit ratio on this one is such that the risk rather foolhardy. [Platt] There are scientists who disagree with Al Gore, the consummate seedy politician. [Case] The overwhelming consensus of scientists qualified to speak on the issue is on Gore's side. Gore is an honorable, intelligent and decent man. Perhaps this makes him unfit for politics but he is one of the few I have had the pleasure to vote "for" as opposed to voting against the sleezeball republican "alternatives". [Platt] Not to mention bringing down Soviet communism, allowing millions of children in Eastern Europe and elsewhere to survive and live in freedom. [Case] That sock puppet for the wealthy had little or nothing to do with the fall of communism. All he succeeded in doing was running up debt and lulling the country into believing the "We the People" are our own worst enemy. On the later point I fear he was correct. [Platt] Jimmy Carter, the worst president in U.S. history. Inflation rates at double digits, interest rates likewise. Completely feckless in the Iranian hostage crises. The leader of national "malaise." [Case] Another man disqualified for public service by having personal integrity. The only US president to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. The president who promised never to lie to us and paid the price for keeping his promise. Malaise was inherited from the moral bankrupcy of the Nixon administration and the Ford administration whose solution to stagnation was having us all wear Whip Inflation Now (WIN) buttons; a campaign nearly as absurd as the Raygun's "Just Say Know" rubbish. As for the worst president in US history Baby George is now the leading contender among historians. His only serious opposition seems to be James Buchanan whose ineptitude is credited with starting the Civil War. [Platt] Yes indeed, Americans are stupid, except for the small minority of wise people like yourself of course. [Case] I would like to think I am not alone, after all Baby Bush only won his squeekers with the help of his brother and his daddy's court appointees. [Platt] Ah, let us pray that we too, like our European cousins, will soon bask in the bosom of socialism. Just hope that you won't need an operation. By the time you get to the head of the line it may be too late. [Case] Let's see a four day work week and universal health care weighed against propaganda fueled waiting lists and fear of the "red menace". Sounds like a good deal to me. moq_discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
